Title The Blair House
Scope & Content The Elisha Blair house at 45110 Little Lake Street. (APN: 119-160-10) Elisha W. Blair purchased this lot from William Heeser in 1887 and began construction on his house the following year. The house was designed and built for him in 1888 by J.D. Johnson, local builder and undertaker, at the cost of $10,000 in gold coin. This house has not been altered and is one of the few authentic historical examples of Mendocino architecture. Constructed of redwood, it is also one of the few houses in Mendocino with plastered walls.
The Blair House is most popularly known as the home of Jessica Fletcher, the principal character of "Murder She Wrote", most of which was filmed in Mendocino. It is now a bed and breakfast inn.
