Leonard J. Cirino, poet and literary publisher, lived on the Mendocino Coast between Albion and Caspar from the late 1970s until the late 1990s. While in residence, he established Pygmy Forest Press, which published his own work and that of his contemporaries, both on Mendocino coast and elsewhere. He later moved to Eureka and eventually to Springfield, Illinois, to live near his brother's farm, continuing to write and publish until he passed away in 2012. Four coast poets tell stories of Mendocino history from a time when the town had been nearly abandoned. They arrived with a commitment to writing and surviving in a bereft economy, but one freer to development in the arts. It was a time when a poetry reading might be the only event in town with an armload of firewood as the price of admission. Hosted by Kris Smith and filmed by Julia Larke.
