Hand-drawn Sanborn map of the town of Caspar and lands belonging to the Caspar Lumber Company. Created for, or by, Pacific Fire Rating Bureau. Sanborn fire insurance maps were originally created as a product to help fire insurance companies assess the potential risks involved in underwriting policies. The maps show in great detail lots, houses, sheds, the mill, various lumber shops and businesses. There are handwritten notations showing which houses were destroyed between 1960 - 1973 after the closure of the mill. Scale - 1" =100"

This collection of interview notes relates various lumber industry details of various mills along the Mendocino Coast.

This item contains miscellaneous research notes about the lumber and shipping industries along the Mendocino Coast and greater Northern California coast. The research was conducted at the Bancroft Library between 1961 and 1964. These notes are transcribed excerpts from various issues of the Mendocino Beacon, Fort Bragg Advocate-News, Mendocino West Coast Star, and San Franscisco Alta California newspapers. The issues of the newspapers are ranged from 1850 to 1937.

Survey was completed September 1911 and covers sections 19, 20, 29 & 30 in T17 N of R17 W of Mount Diablo Meridian. Descriptions include tracts sold, cost of each parcel, names of lot owners, streets, church, cemetery and natural creeks. Signed by Joshua Grindle. This property originally belonged to Spencer Hills, who immigrated to Mendocino from Union, Maine. When he died, the property went to his wife, Senith Littlefield Hills. Senith Hills died in 1909 designating Joshua Grindle as her Executor. In 1911, Grindle consented to the making and filing of this map and dedicated for public us
