Summary Oral interview of Comptche native, Miriam Newman, conducted by Maria Goodwin for Real Estate Magazine.
Miriam Newman was born July 12, 1900, the daughter of a Finnish immigrant who came to this country in 1888. She was one of twelve children, eight of whom lived to adulthood. She attended school in Comptche, only completing the eight grade, and spent her whole life near where she was born, with occasional visits to Finland, San Francisco and Santa Rosa. Working on the family ranch in Comptche, Miriam lived to be 104, dying peacefully June 2, 2005, just a few weeks short of her 105th birthday.
